Paypal Hello, I've been offered Data engineer /Software Engineer at PayPal, india.
How's the company doing, is it profitable? Bit skeptical about the recent layoffs at PayPal.
Any data engineers at PayPal around? Whats your thoughts, how's the team doing and how would be the growth?

Be prepared to wait many weeks during interview and paying for your own flight 😂
Nope, Slalom doesn't pay half of what big 4 makes, in fact I got 20% bump. Fake news
Head slalom pays half of what big4 does but interest to see this
Never leave for less than what you're currently making. Slalom doesn't pay less, fake news. Go check out our website. Culture is fairly genuine and most of us are ex big4/ Accenture so there's a conscious effort to not turn into them
OP depends on what you're looking for really. I like that I'm at home every night and the people are awesome. In terms of interviews, it can take a while and culture fit is a big deal.
They don't pay less. But the raise you get will be less than what you will make at D if you wait one year. Not fake news. I know. I got an offer and it was crap compared to Deloittes annual raises.
Who to believe... the person that works at slalom or the person that interviewed at slalom 🤔🤔🤔
I'm just giving you another opinion. My best friend left Deloitte for slalom and loved it, but I know what her raises are like. And I know my raises. If it's just about the coast to coast and pay, there are ways to deal with that at D. Just pointing out to OP.
I'm not sure why Slalom would be the first and last place you'd look if you're looking for the things you're describing. Maybe try widening the search beyond one boutique consultancy?
Thanks C1! I am honestly tired of the travel and it doesn't look like I'll be off my east coast project for a while (I'm on the west coast). I do like being in my city, cooking my own food, sleeping in my own bed, having normal work hours and meeting my friends/ bf even on weekdays. I do believe this trade-off for points/miles and alternate travels is worth making the switch. I guess I'm looking for more insights into Slalom - Could you talk a bit about understand Slalom's culture?
Understanding*
Also C1, did you switch from D? Why do interviews take a long time?
Pay raise is measly. You will get that pay raise every year at Deloitte. And I hear their annual pay raises are pitiful. If you have been at D a long time, why don't you tell ppl you don't want coast to coast travel. I literally have never heard of Deloitte ppl saying you have to keep doing that. Occasionally maybe. But if you really want to stop they don't make you keep doing that. Talk to your network
I just find it curious that SC1 thinks they know what annual raises are like at Slalom. Just like everywhere, depends on performance, utilization, firm contribution, etc. I've never heard anyone complain, but I would guess if someone was unhappy it would be because they underperformed.
That's fair- SC1, SC2, Slalom 1- thanks for your inputs! I want to find something local. I know I can work with D longer and things are pretty stable here. I've been here 5+ years now and I want to try something new. I am keeping options open - not just boutique consultancy but industry too. Out of curiosity, what are the other boutique consulting firms?
