She joined a cult, she f*cked around, and she found out. It’s sad that she went so deep in the lies that she lost her life, but I think her actions (and everything else going on around her) and the result are all pretty straightforward.
She was committing treason. Bye Felicia.
Got what she deserved
Regardless of her personal political views, the use of deadly force was not justified.
As I recall she was climbing through that window in front of two officers who could not have cared less. She posed no threat to the officer who fired as she was essentially stuck in a door frame. Had that shoot occurred in pretty much any other situation all of the officers involved would be on their asses.
They had no idea if she was armed or her intent and they--the three officers who were essentially a last line of defense for the members of the House of Representatives--weren't in a position to wait and find out, especially when it was known there were weapons in the crowd and the crowd had been incredibly violent and hostile towards police.
Portland is a terrible example. If the situation involved a bunch of judges in their chambers that were being evacuated and a bunch of violent rioters attempted to break through the door into their chambers and those rioters were shot by the judge's security detail, I would also agree that was a reasonable and justified use of force. But that's not what happened. The building was never breeched and it didn't contain senior VIP government officials like the Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, the Vice President of the United States, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or any other elected representative. Further, the police were very aggressive with their tactics, to include beating clearly unarmed protestors (who were clearly not rioters), pepper spraying the unarmed "Wall of Moms", etc. A bunch of people were ultimately arrested and charged, and nobody called them political prisoners or heroes or patriots. But had things escalate further and the building been breeched and police feared for their lives, even without my hypothetical of there being judges, deadly force would have likely been justified. But that isn't what happened and less than lethal force was effective, while conversely using lethal force into a crowd could have been disastrous.
And you said "yet they didn't kill those attacking the courthouse." The courthouse is just a building. Just like the Capitol complex is just a building. They weren't killed in Portland for attacking the (basically empty) building, just like she wasn't killed for attacking the building in DC. She was shot and killed for the very real and perceived threat she posed to the members on the House floor.
I'm not one to quickly side with police. There are far too many trigger happy police who shoot first and ask questions later and who have no business being a cop or having a firearm. I am skeptical about most police shootings. I look at the facts, what led to the situation, and the context that surrounded it. I put myself in the cop's shoes and think about what may have been going through their mind and what they knew at the time, while keeping in mind they have a split second to make a life altering decision. This cop made the right decision considering what he knew of this violent mob in front of him and keeping in mind what he was protecting that was behind him. No cloud from my political views needed, he made the right call.
Multiple thoughts here - yes she f’ed around and found out. However, this did seem unjustified given the situation.
I also agree with PwC1 - if shooting her is justified then half of those Portland rioters should be 6 feet under. Feels like a clear double standard for how rioters are treated if their political leanings are one side or another,
If you don't know what I'm talking about when it comes into regards to the Congressional intrusions of those two years. You probably don't know enough about these type of cases to actually you trying to talk about them. Both of those were also times where other people broke into the capital and they were armed. Something to think about
