Should companies be required to provide free parking if they’re requiring employees to do full RTO or hybrid work?

There should at least be something reimbursed. Though I don't think it's a standard. My office has about 6 free spots and everything else you pay or walk pretty far.

My company has a WeWork-esque workspace but requires us to pay for parking in the garage. We are required to be in-office 3-4 days a week, and while I'm happy to pay for parking, it is SO expensive. My opinion is that it should at least be subsidized to a reasonable cost.

That benefit is bs. Hardly makes a difference. Our POS hr business partner brings that up every time the topic comes up. And she’s someone who doesn’t deal with it so she has no clue. The company should do something where they have skin in the game or else do a better job negotiating leases on work space.

funny

I feel there should be some kind of benefit to coming back. Either a car or parking stipend, they buy a lot where we can park, or just leave us at home like we were. The company is getting something for bringing everyone back, let that 💩 roll down hill.

Yes they should cover parking or public transportation cost imo

They should.

But in this economy, they’ve got the leverage. So I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I think I read about some kind of process where when an applicant reaches out to a current student or alum for a 1:1 and makes a good impression, the student/alum can send a message to the adcom letting them know? Is it like a "Hey I connected with this applicant and had a great conversation with them. I think they would be a great fit for the program" type of thing?

I was hired to manage the maintenance program, only to get here and physically do the work. 2 years later and being on-call daily but still expected to burn both ends of the candle and it does seem good enough for the corporate leadership. Collapsed this past Thursday at work and rushed off to the hospital only to find out that it was a stress induced panic attack. Come back to work on Monday only to find that my work load was added to. What will it take?

I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

I feel burnt out by how ruthless the tech industry in US is, but I also know I’m making much more money than people outside of tech or consulting.

How do you adjust your WLB?
I’m so burnt out that I wish I could yell at people who were not kind or supportive to me, but those people often unfortunately were in position of power.
I don’t like unkindness, but my anger is just very bottled up…
What can I do to stay level-headed even when the other side is disrespectful?

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. Any advice you guys could provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?
