Should employers be asking for a doctor’s note when you call off? When a upcoming holiday comes up.

I think it's better overall to give employees the benefit of the doubt to create some goodwill and improve the workplace dynamic. Sure, some people might take advantage of it but if you notice a pattern then you can be a little more strict with those people if necessary.

Asking an employee for a doctor's note when an employee is out depends on the circumstances for that particular employee. The employer may have a policy in place regarding doctor's notes.

Depends on what your policy states. If there's no actual written policy, l would challenge it.

With our entity, the policy states clearly in the employee handbook, "Therefore, to avoid possible abuse of this benefit, a physician’s statement will be required by the District as verification of illness or accident before sick leave benefits are paid when an employee has been absent for three (3) consecutive working days."

It depends on your employer's Personnel Rules.

Many employers will include such a rule in their handbooks. Enforcement ultimately depends on the people giving approval, so you will have to gage how strict they will be.

I have seen many employers require a doctors note if you call out the last day you are scheduled before a holiday or the first day scheduled back after a holiday. No dr note means no holiday pay

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

Friendly reminder folks- don’t work for Havas Health and You. They cut the freelancers hourly rates, again and made it so there’s no OT. The resource manager at HOV said if I couldn’t swing $80 an hour as an HCP copywriter, she’d have to find someone else. Good luck 👍🏻
