Should finance challenge growth assumptions more aggressively? I’ve found that early pushback often improves strategy, not just forecasts.

With good reasoning, absolutely. Too many times, the numbers were wishful thinking and best best-case scenario. Better to at least suggest it might not go that way and start planning for the other side.

For sure. The size of the organization can make this difficult. A lot of times growth assumptions are pushed hard by other functions.

AWS vs Cloudflare BDR roles

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.

AWS has prestige but is it worth it?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

However, I’d reached out to recruiters and am meeting with one in a couple of days! Do I have a shot at turning this around? Or will it not matter once she learns I was rejected. Thanks!
