Hi Google - I am requesting guidance!
I am prepping for my interview specifically GCA and open ended questions. I struggle to tell if the outcome should be talking through your process/steps (maybe for a question like - how would you go about determining program complexity) vs a specific solution such as create x new product, for x market by x date based on my assumptions. Is the desired outcome something I can clarify with the interviewer?

Hey op - I left PwC at 2.5 YOE for D for 40K bump.
Even with that raise, Deloitte’s marginally better brand in consulting played a factor.
Don’t leave for K for only 20K. The Deloitte brand is much stronger and if you wait a few years you could jump for a much bigger raise.

Good! This app makes fun of D but my linked in pings went from no names firms to FAANG & F100 when I came here. Also losing your network really sucks.
20 k more yes
What level? Lower yes. Manager plus depends on how strong your relationships are
For 20k?? Without a doubt

No, but use that offer to increase current spay or get a retention bonus
Never heard of retention bonus! And yes I only accepted the interview with KPMG to be able to increase current pay, but i'm kind of afraid now that using that offer to negotiate my salary will give a bad impression.
Do you have any tips on negotiating?

I did and have absolutely 0 regrets. I went from being a super low paid consultant at Deloitte to a super high paid senior associate at KPMG. I still get the same recruiter pings (big4 is big4, yes Deloitte is the best but outside of consulting, the difference is marginal).
15k is a little low for a lateral, I personally got 40.

20k makes a fairly large difference if you keep your lifestyle the same
I.e. being able to go from saving 0 into your 401k to completely maxing it.
I got more money from KPMG with less hours and I am very happy. Even 20k is enough to justify a move unless it’s less than 20% raise
Oh my goodness, no. 20K is nothing in the long run, regardless of what you think of either company
Not for a lateral but for a promo, sure
D’s culture is much more challenging than KPMG. I am not sure how much of the brand matter if your ultimate goal is to exist in 3 years
I was thinking about either trying to go to MBB within the next year, or exiting consulting in the next 2-3 years.
I negotiated a bit and got a promotion to SC as well so I will be taking the offer - i connected really well with every person I spoke with so far, which also plays a big factor in my decision :)

Mind sharing where the numbers landed for senior associate? Assume you were a consultant at D? I did the same switch
77 -> 120
