Title means nothing if you’re unhappy and not getting paid nicely
Who cares about title when you're happy with your job and happy with comp and benefits?
Titles don’t pay the bills
Don’t follow the title, follow the money and peace of mind
I made that jump from associate to analyst and will be starting at a organization that I genuinely enjoy with work I love. It’s so worth it including the pay bump, growth and exit ops. My WLB won’t be the same but the phrase “find a job you love and you won’t work a day in your life” is relevant here and definitely worth it
Ignore title. “VP” at other companies (e.g. JPMorgan) mean absolutely nothing since they correspond to much different tiles at Capital One. Focus on pay, happiness and learning. Don’t let titles distract you or make you envious of others.
Especially in asset mgmt associate vs analyst isn’t very important it’s firm based. And if pay is better then no brainer
Money aside... I'm in AM at a large mutual fund. Analysts are higher titles than Associates. At MFs and HFs the titles are the reverse of the IBD / PE title hierarchy.
