What level? As a new staff, no. As an experienced hire, probably yes
Always? No.
No. I have had offers come way above my expectations. A few $ more wasn’t worth the risk of negotiating.
If you’re not happy with the amount, yes. If you are, no.
No.
Sure if it's actually a low offer then yes ask for more.
But you shouldn't just blindly always ask for more as a rule of thumb.
Agreed. If it’s a fair or high offer, it just signals you might be difficult to work with or you feel entitled to things that you might not actually deserve.
Yes
Yes
Yup
I tried negotiating salary for a job offer in private and they ended up rescinding it lol
It depends...if they gave a wage expectation for the role and it has a lower and higher pay rate that they were willing to offer, then talking to them about it if you fit what they need isn't a bad idea. If they seem stuck in the $ offered, then ask if there's options to advance, how long that might take for consideration and gage the benefits. Also ask if there's a yearly wage increase that they normally give. If it's 3% or higher increases yearly, you may find yourself where you wanted to be in a few years, while also being employed.
I say yes. I always negotiate because the worst they can say is no and you never know what you are leaving on the table if you don't atleast ask.
The worst the can say is they have someone else that will take it and you lose the job
