Sitting in a meeting, client's talking, and my brain just...shuts down. Anyone else get that glazed-over feeling where zero information is getting absorbed?

Literally all day, every day. Ritalin may help me "focus" but it can't make me focus on something idgaf about and idgaf about my job, unfortunately (even though like most of us, I need the income to continue existing in this capitalist hellscape) 🥲

100%. It’s really hard to snap out of it once I’ve lost the ability to care

Take notes.
Obviously it’s important to listen, but don’t worry about it too much. If what the client was saying had importance to you you’d pay attention.

If you feel you missed something important don’t hesitate to ask (occasionally) for a recap. Or respond with “so do I understand correctly that you need ….” Or go through a recap of action items and ask “did I miss anything?”

90% of what is said in meetings is irrelevant to moving a project forward. It’s a lot of thinking aloud, restating the obvious, speculating, complaining, small talk, etc. while this is important for relationship building and to get to the important points, the actions from most meetings can usually be explained in a few minutes.

Recruiters- Are any of you hiring for Corporate law, tax, or any other interesting fields? I’m an admitted attorney in NYC. Thanks!

Had a consultation with an attorney for legal advice on my options to address a late filing for a taxable event. They recommended me two options: file or not file. In order to help him with the consultation he asked to send him additional information like bank statements and work authorization which I sent.

If I decide to not file or go to another attorney if the fees are high, can the attorney still report me or whistle blow me to the tax authorities?

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Also, having been on the receiving end of criticism, over time I have developed a perfectionist streak. I won't turn it in if it is good enough. How do you break out of this habit?

Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!

Here is my dilemma: I was passed up for manager promo last year and rightfully so a lot of my feedback was definitely correlated to me not properly handing my symptoms causing a good bit of inconsistencies in my performance especially if I lacked interest. The few people who “advocate” for me seem to be stuck on things that seem either 1) so unsubstantiated and show that they are too far detached from the …

My psychiatrist today revealed to me that I may have ADHD, still a hypothesis that he is still exploring but from my personal experiences and discussions with therapist, it seems likely.

One example of personal experience is my ongoing prep for case studies as I'm interviewing with a number of firms. I do struggle to keep focus and generally take a bit longer to finish them, specifically the structuring of the case. Does anybody else feel the same way and any recommendations to overcome this?

Had my 1:1 with my People Lead yesterday to prepare for talent discussions. Said I had a great year - but need to work on being consistent. She said when I’m engaged it’s great but need to keep it going. I’ve mentioned my ADHD previously but I’m sure she doesn’t know all the components of what that means. We’ve had org issues - no clear role descriptions or expectations. Yes I do have a hard time staying engaged (and I’m medicated - Vyvance in the am, dextroamphetamine at noon). Thoughts?
