Hi Fishes,
I recently got an offer for Cyber security advisory at PwC India . They gave a 20% hike on the current amount. Thing is that l, the technical interview told me that it is not a software/coding type of position and asked me multiple times if I was interested to do that. Is that a red flag?
Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

What the heck !! That’s weird. Where all those slalom people hiding now who never miss to brag about how awesome their firm is even on unrelated topics..
Look at the response above your post
I don’t understand where you would be flying, since it’s a local model? Do you want to move somewhere else, and us to pick up the tab? You should just be going into an office in your city.... something seems off
Yeah if you want me bad enough you’ll pay for me to relocate. Talent is an investment. Want us to take on the risk of working for you? Drop some cash on getting us in the door to show you are serious.
Regardless of who you are that’s a terrible way to start things off. I wouldn’t move forward
Turned down a google interview because they forced me to connect versus taking one of the 20 direct flights.
Yeah..I have worked with their teams..don't know much about their hotels, but domestic flights have a limit of $1000 even for cross country flights..there is an incentive system that counts if you have taken a cheaper option..and gives some benefits in the subsequent trips as saving accumulates..
Weird. Is this for a local office or cross-market? If a local office, they typically recruit local candidates so maybe that’s the issue.
Where is the OP? Shots fired and no follow-up post with details.
Slalom is a global company with a local model. Each office runs their own P&L. Slalom also interviews a LOT of people and the process can be long.
A local office is unlikely to fund travel for candidates open to relocating unless there is a strong business case for it.
What additional details are needed? I wouldn’t even bother replying to turn down the invite after that.
Bain paid for my $1200 flight and put me in the Ritz... that’s ridiculous they won’t pay for you to interview.
Slalom ain’t exactly Bain
One of the largest bank in the world has a policy that a hotel stay for employee cannot be more than $200 per night and needs a level below CEO approval for even a cent more than $200
Weird, especially since large banks seem to have a large presence in places like London, New York, Tokyo, etc.. and lots of employees. Must keep the top team busy - sure that’s a great use of their time
@op. Did they call and ask you to move to a different city or were you applying to a city outside of the one that you live in
I recruited from a different city... Recruiting flew me out for a day and was super accommodating of schedule.
Funny...partner flew out to meet me
Adobe reached out to me recently and the recruiter sent me a link to her calendar and asked me to find a slot that worked for both of us. I replied and said I was no longer interested in discussing the opportunity. Like come on
I prefer this actually.. what’s the downside?
I suspect the recruiter believed the OP resided in a local market when they reached out.
We do not have a practice of recruiting out of market people and then asking them to travel on their own dime.
This is just a sign of what your career would be like at slalom. Don’t bother with them. Many of us are leaving for firms with much higher comp similar work life balance and smarter people. Slalom’s losing good people and retaining unhirables
