So I accepted a job as a Clinical Informatics/Clinical Educator Manager role and I start next week. Any advice, or what can I expect from this role? Will it be very difficult to navigate/learn everything or is it an “easy” sort of role? The pay is very good so I am skeptical and anxious to be honest. This is also my first non-clinical, management job as a nurse so this is all new to me.

Congratulations! Those are tough questions to answer because I think it depends on the person and the environment. I’m sure they saw potential in you since you were chosen for the role. Good luck!

You should expect to use your nursing background to collect and analyze data as it pertains to the technology of your systems. BCMA Compliance, Pump Interopability, sometimes infection related or associated events (though, if you have an infection preventionist or infectious disease nursing position they often handle that), also when there are changes to the system (technology) you may be the contact for making sure nurses are up-to-date in new features and/or training them on new workflows that are being implemented. This can be anything like a new EMR or even just a project like integrating pumps with the MAR in the EMR.
