It could be a compliance issue. Or the company has been bought. Or maybe they wanted to make drastic changes without push back from longtime employees. What’s the name of the company?
Your manager didn’t vouch for you.
Yup
Your team very well may not have been performing in the eyes of the decision maker. Did a director/VP get canned along with all of their reports?
I concur with this assessment as well.
The entire team must have been underperforming and your manager is constantly just saying “everything is fine” because they weren’t a great manager and can’t give the right feedback
Few questions:
1. Were you a full time or fixed term/contracted employee?
2. Did you sign on something in your contract that might cost money for the organization, and the only way for them to get out of it is by termination?
3. Are you sure it’s the exact same position/product/territory they are hiring for?
Every company is scrutinizing their numbers, and make good or bad decisions to save money. It’s a crazy time to be in, but some handle it more professionally (less toxic) than others. You are probably better off without them, build a strong CV, and I’m sure you’ll find something that will match your career needs!
1. I was full time
2. Not that I'm aware of, it all seemed pretty standard, and I didn't negotiate.
3. I'm 100% certain it's the same job, the only difference being the title, and the change in teams due to the reorg, but literally nothing changed lol.
And thanks I'm trying my best 😂, but I'm honestly better at project based interviews vs the checklist hell I've been seeing this past week. It's how I got the other job in the first place.
Do you have any recommendations for good resume writers that specialize in data stuff? Or any random tips you can throw my way?
Or… just an idea- the recruiters are just „searching the market” :(
I dont know how often it happens but I know it does happen sometimes… depending on the company - I would say smaller size, more probable…
Was this a remote role, maybe new ones are all onsite
Is this Lee Enterprises? Sounds kind of like what they have been doing. Laying off their best workers because of what a consultant said to do.
