So I went from heading the copy team to being the manager today after the last two days of internal interviews. I'm so happy, but I have to admit I was pretending I knew what it takes, so I don't lose the opportunity, and now I'm freaking out. Has anyone else done this? Am I right to think I'll figure it out on the go, or am I throwing myself in the deep end?

I have been going on interviews and noticed 2 department heads already assume I was laid off or fired due to a 4 months gap. I explained I left my last role due to short term health issues that have been resolved. Not even sure how to respond when they assume. Any advise? Thanks!

FL peoples: I signed a lease for a new place to start May 1 as my current landlord sold the unit I'm in. Turns out, the buyer wants to keep renting the unit and asked if I want to stay. Of course I want to stay. My new lease hasn't started so I'm pretty sure I can easily back out. For the new lease, I'm still pending full approval from a condo association as I have to do an in person interview. I have paid first months rent in advance. Is there anyway to get that money back?

At the end of the interview he said they've had other people who were interested but only one other person besides me were they considering. How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up.
