So I’m about to graduate from an Ivy League (think Harvard/Yale/Princeton/Cornell) and I am wrapping up my 0.25 YOE in consulting (think McKinsey/Bain/BCG/West Monroe). I’ve been offered a PM position from a PE firm (Apollo/KKR/ my dad’s PE shop) with starting $250K and free housing and food. Should I negotiate for more? What are my exit ops from this?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

Any tips for someone trying to break into consulting in the GCC from the US? Applying blindly hasn't worked out. Head hunter recommendations would be great as well!

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified?
