Not really in my department it’s a gift and a curse because we got so many people that even when someone is on vacation there’s not really any OT because of the perdiems and part timers willing to work. I wish we had a blank check for OT
Unles your organization is completely different from any others, the folks on vacation scheduled it, and you knew about it in advance. There are agencies you can hire from, I have worked both healthcare and non-healthcare jobs through agencies for decades now and this has always been the case. Pick up the phone as soon as you get to work tomorrow, or go online, and someone might be available to begin orienting to your organization the next day. Yes, they will cost more than normal employees, but that’s the cost of doing business, right? Maybe consider limiting how many people can be on vacation at once, Most places I have worked do this. Some places award vacations based on seniority or when people turn in their vacation requests. If you are not willing to do this, then I think you might have to face that you knew you were going to be understaffed and decided to do it and now you are unhappy with the results of your decision. If it was a mistake, I invite you to join the rest of us who hopefully learn from our mistakes.
BTW, if you’re not management, then I hope you get better management soon!
It's because of school holidays
