I'm in M & A and laughing at all the partners celebrating Trump's win, thinking that deal flow was going to go back to 2021. (We already had a banner year).

Anyway, I'm not worried. If they're slow enough to start laying off mid level M&A associates, I can easily get another job.

@A3,

What do the M&A partners say about Trump now?

P,W represents Exxon in a ton of cases. I’m very curious what is going to happen as Trump continues to go after the firms that do $10+ million per year in bet the company work and deals for his big oil donors.

I had to laugh at the person who the other day said BL was “captured by Democrats” like they don’t all do work for Fortune 500 companies, execs, are a revolving door for top government dogs regardless of party, FedSoc members, etc

like

Also, I wonder if this is Trump’s way to move clients from Paul, Weiss/Perkins Coie/Covington to his favored law firms, who will then give him kickbacks.

This is what most of the country wants 🙌🏼 let’s accept it and move on please.

Verifiably false. “Most” of the country didn’t vote for him, and even if they had, I don’t even think most Trump voters want this particular action. They wanted cheaper eggs.

Name the most ridiculous micro-managing by partners that you experience.

I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. Initial greeting can only be “Hello [name] ” because just first name is too brisk and a “Hi [name]” is too informal. Had a 5 minute, in depth conversation as to why she prefers it this way…

Random partner asked a litigation-related question to a partner I frequently work with (i’m a transactional associate). My partner cc’d me and said for me to briefly look. Asked the library. They got me a great case. Sent it back. Now the random partner is asking for more cases in another circuit.

Been feeling spread too thin lately but I don’t know whats typical. Curious what others do. And would you mind sharing whether you’re a junior, midlevel, partner, etc??

I realize sheer number of cases doesn’t tell the whole story… obviously you can be buried on one massive case. I’m finding it hard to jump back and forth between everything I have going on right now, though, but I don’t know if the answer is to just deal with it.
