I closed nine about 8 years ago because of data privacy concerns. Anyone on the Internet can figure out your company and office location. I wasn't comfortable with that.
Definitely not needed for blue collar jobs. Also for some professions like physicians. For finance, it would be odd if you didn’t have one at all. I’ve seen many people have a very bare bones one. No presence on LinkedIn is a bit sus to recruiters.
What is your concern with making/having one?
In my line of business (tech consulting) id say is very much a red flag if you don't have one. You are only as good as your references and you want to make yourself visible to potential recruiters. If you don't have one, odds are something is off. I've run into people that are overemployed or overstate experience. Linkedin keeps these things in check (as anyone can find you)

The only white collar people I have met who didn't have a LinkedIn, didn't have one because they were super paranoid about "their information being out there," and they were weird paranoid types beyond that too. If you want to be in that group, go for it.

It’s just another avenue to network with other professionals. Having it won’t guarantee a job, not having it closes that avenue. All companies have a presence there. Most hiring managers will be on there, it’s one more way to get eyeballs on your profile other than sending your resume to AI black hole.
I hibernated mine for more than a year now. Got questions often but still got offers
I cannot find you on linkedin?
Correct i dont have a profile
Why?
Needed a break from this BS
I've come across postings that have it as a required field in their application which I think is discriminatory. I have mine locked down as much as possible due to multiple incidents of stalking, but keep one as a necessary evil.

Not for blue collar

I have never considered that to be a potential issue. Never had a linkedin, never will. Would suck if that really held against you during recruiting.
When I’m considering a candidate, the first thing I check after their CV is their LinkedIn profile. Not having one is a red flag for me
As a hiring manager, not having one is a red flag--it's usually a clue that something is off. As someone who is looking for jobs, I think it can be helpful to get in touch with past colleagues who may be open to referring you into roles you're interested in. Every job I've ever had, I got through being a referral and knowing someone.
