Highmark Health Hi everyone I'm a life science consultant manager specializing in pharma launch strategy. I'm looking into roles at Viatris, Highmark health, and UPMC. Does anyone here work at these places and can answer a few questions that I have? Are there other life science opportunities in Pittsburgh?

Couldn't say. I don't have pharma experience.
I don’t know about other departments, and I don’t know how this affects downstream projects, but just speaking from personal experience, of the hundred+ projects I review a year, I see an average of one, maybe two TV ads per year.
A lot of what’s happening now has been driven by online pharmacies pushing products without any fair balance whatsoever. Pharmaceutical companies have been spending a ton of money on DTC advertising and I can tell you that they will bring up the first amendment thing once again. As for transparency, pharmaceutical ads have been doing more work and taking more time on TV to get out all of the info. However, if this truly is going back to 1997 and they’re going to insist that drug advertising gives out the entire ISI then TV and video is done. But don’t think that pharma is going to go along with this without a fight. The biggest thing I find Idiotic is the idea that the lack of letters coming from the FDA means pharmaceutical companies have been getting away with misleading advertising - instead of saying that the lack of letters coming from the FDA means that pharmaceutical companies are actually doing a good job of following the rules. The causality is actually laughable.
I wouldn’t worry. The Fanta Menace is simply looking for the same extortion type payout he’s been collecting from other companies and industries all year.
It’s the same tired script…
Make threat. Get paid through investments in Trump Grift Coin. Like company/ industry again.
Heard CoLab/Publicis had big layoffs last week, most likely due to Pfizer pulling back on business.
Yep, about 100-115 employees were let go as of Friday, 9/5. The mood is bleak.
Still healthcare agencies in the uk and we can’t advertise drugs on tv here. So I guess they will just have to work harder

Trump Moves to Crack Down on Drug Advertising https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/09/health/fda-drug-advertising-warning-letters.html?unlocked_article_code=1.lE8.yUnE.pZBFY_-AS76S&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
RFK suggested banning all pharmaceutical ads from TV - which would be struck down by federal judges, who have long accepted advertising as a First Amendment-protected form of speech. But there is redirect from Trump telling the FDA to use current laws to ensure “transparency and accuracy” in all ads. So, maybe less 'pushing pills' and fabricating ISI.
Who fabricates ISIs?!? They’re mandated by the clients’ legal departments and approved by the FDA’s OPDP branch.
