Some weeks it feels like half my job in insurance isn’t in my job description at all, it’s the unofficial stuff like being the connector, fixing things before they become problems, or answering questions just because people know you’ll respond, so how do you decide what to lean into and what to step back from without it hurting your reputation or career growth?

I feel like a solid third of the work I do has absolutely nothing to do with my official job responsibilities. However, I do these tasks in order to make myself more valuable.

Hello! I’m a law student who’s graduating in 2023 from a top Canadian law school. I’m really hoping to land a first-year associate position at a US law firm (or in the Toronto office of a US law firm) this summer, and I’d appreciate any advice on how to do so as there is no formal recruit/I did not participate in the 2L NY/LA recruit. I’m open to any corporate transactional work. Thank-you!

Help! I just got invited to a black tie event tomorrow and don’t have a dress. I am a plus size woman so about a 16 or 18 and have no idea where I can buy a dress in person in this little amount of time. Any ladies who know which stores have good plus size options in NYC?

Also what was the recovery like? Nervous to look even worse as it grows back coming into the office. How much PTO did you take?

Asking for a friend ofc!

Which companies in Canada are giving remote opportunities in the insurance industry?

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Are there some background mechanics that I’m missing?

I'm at 46k a year and a top performer. I want 65k soon and ultimately want to be at 80k in the next three years. My family needs it ....

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?
