Pondering lately how often people stay in roles they’ve outgrown not because they want to, but because it feels risky to move. It’s easy to get comfortable with stability even when you know you’re not really learning anymore, and I’ve caught myself going back and forth between wanting growth and wanting security. I’m curious how others know when it’s time to push for something new versus staying put and building deeper where you are.

I’m in the same exact boat. I’ve been complacent for years but liked the stability and flexibility of my job. Unfortunately things have changed and I’m being forced to look for a new role now. I’m trying g to look at this a growth opportunity. Just hoping something is out there for me.

same scenario. I've been looking for quite some time, however, nervous of change. I have realized I've hit a ceiling in terms of advancement. I am seeking an environment that recognizes my expertise with a more competitive compensation structure and provides a clear pathway for upward mobility.

I’m sure the number is high. People are inherently risk averse. Maybe a career coach is needed.

So, you have learned all you can about the job and found every way to make the job go better? You have tried all you can and tried all you can to advance within your company?
With the way the job market and economy have been over the years you might want to stay for the growth, security, and stability as there are many people out there that have yet to recover from the Great Recession, then throw on COVID, and what is currently going on in the job market and economy.

Our salaries continue to DECREASE as cost of living increases (not just “no raises”…decrease!…I realize I’m preaching to the choir haha). I can barely (and by “barely” I mean “can’t” TBH) make bills, pay for kids activities, etc (also a single mom of 3, for more context) LET ALONE pay my loans…
How do we start that movement?…

I’m so tired of US companies hiring remote Canadian employees offering to pay a fraction of the price for the same role.

This is consistent across the majority of the tech companies. While I am looking to exit consulting, don’t want to be paid 50% of what my colleagues would be making across the border.

Morning all. I am looking for a favour/solid advice. I've been in the interview process for a dream role over the past month or so and just found out I didn't get the job after final round 🙃.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened during the past year searching. Looking for a SC level role within healthcare/public sector consulting firm. I know the job scene is a bit miserable currently but if anyone in the bowl is aware of a role I would love to have a chat.

Thanks all

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?
