I don't see a reason to change things until it's merged.
Sticking with SPG Aand avoiding Marriott for the next couple years. They will probably do a la US Air and AA and take # of nights on highest for elite status, not Marriott nights + SPG nights
Donate all points. Stress not worth it
Should I try and get dual spg and Marriott status? Should I keep plugging away at spg points and hope for a good ratio? Should I switch completely (I love my suite upgrades 😭)? Should I transfer all points out to miles before 2018 (I believe this is when they said things will start changing)? Use them all on experiences? Please help/share your plans!
Understood C1. However, I am concerned about the exchange ratio. Eventually they will likely combine and I'm just wondering if it will be like enjoying a large 🍆 from behind or whether they will try and keep things the same. Typically mergers of this size usually 🍆 quite a few people as their bargaining power has greatly increased, and will likely reduce benefits and create a larger pool of highest tier people (which means more 🍆)
I'm betting spg will come up with something fair. No reason not to for the most loyal customers. Other chains would jump up and down for loyalty
So be passive and let it happen? I guess that's one way to go. Not sure if people felt the same way about all the airline mergers. Wanted to be proactive.
Honestly don't worry about it. The value of SPG is the brand so they'll most likely keep it separate from the Marriott brand as a whole
