I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Some companies may let you take a sabbatical or extended leave or support you for grad school
That would be better route to go
Also some companies support transition back to professional career after an extended break - could be due to family care, stay at home parent, military veteran, volunteering, etc
Do your research before making final decision

Hmmm have you considered doing an MBA?
Rising Star
Yes, done it twice, each time a year +. Also did 4 months in my early 20s for a trip. Look, my goal isn’t to be king of the MBBs so some here might dig at my career progression but I’m pretty happy to WFH, make a few bills and such.
Everyone who I’ve known who has done it mid career realised how unhappy they were and life was worth more than just grinding as a consultant. They came back and left for other industry (9-5) jobs. They’re all happier, which I guess is the point of a gap year. I intend to do mine next year, I doubt I’ll bother even coming back once it ends.
Don’t do this
Do something productive with your time.

My last 3 years feel as a long career break
I finished my MBA in three semesters and took the final semester off. It was well worth it.
I think 6 months is not that big of a deal. I took a break of 4 years to stay with kids and that completely killed my previous career. I had to almost start from scratch and pivot into a different field. While I enjoyed my time of focusing on parenthood, I would never ever advise anyone to do the same. There is definitely a huge trade off.
