W Union Sq
W Union Sq is the nicest non-luxury SPG property in Manhattan and in a great neighborhood, but I have a soft spot for W Times Sq (One of the only NYC properties to do Green Choice, super easy walk to 30 Rock, at the northern end of Times Sq so minimal tourist interaction/crowding)
You’re basically screwed on quality since most of the SPG hotels are around TS. Westin Grand Central if you need midtown. There’s union square and the financial district options. Otherwise, just move to Marriott early
I’ve been staying at the Sheraton Times Square a lot the last few months and actually enjoy it. GREAT gym, good lounge,
decent lobby restaurant and bar, north side of TS so quiet, club floor rooms are quality, and good food options nearby. Really the only complaints I have are it’s a busy hotel and sometimes the elevators take a while to get to you
The edition. It’s Marriott. But hey it’s all the same now
W Lexington
I live next to Sheraton Times Square - by choice. It's super convenient and not too crowded of an area. Plus you have chicken and rice until 3am within a one block radius 🤗
Since SPG no longer has Le Parker Meridien all of the hotels in NYC aren’t great except for W Downtown and the St. Regis. If you convert to Marriott the Ritz Carlton usually has a good rate on points.

Thanks all!
I used to like W Union Square till I found bed bugs on my bed. So that was the end of that.
As some posters mentioned above, there are some good Marriott properties (and it’s the same now pretty much from a loyalty perspective).
Westin Grand Central is decent too
I actually really like the Sheraton Tribeca. The lounge is nice for a mid-rate NYC hotel and the gym is decent
