Spoke to a recruiter at EY prior to interviewing about comp. Agreed on 120k base for an SA position and now 2 weeks later they come back with mentioning they need to get PM approval as well as asking if I am firm on comp. Does this even make sense?

Hold firm they need talent right now most likely a bluff
Yeah man. Hold firm.. EY isn’t that great that you should take less than you’re looking for.
For Senior Consultant level? I can’t imagine SC being less than 120k, especially in this job market
Never believe a recruiter this is the cap and need to come back. It's a negotiating tactic.

You should have given a range. But regardless it depends on your city
I originally did give a range of 125-140 and she immediately said that 120 was max base comp and was willing to work a 7k bonus because I held a secret
Yea you are firm on the comp. it’s just mind games. You are firm on both base and signing
I had a similar situation at ACN a couple of weeks ago. We agreed to an amount and went through interviews and got positive feedback but because I was only gone for 16 months vs 18 months they wanted me to come back at old salary even though I got multiple certifications while I was gone and am working in a different technology now.
Yea I had someone refer me but still a dead end…may try again down the road
We don’t have SA in EY ? Do you mean SC ? If SC , what level SC1 , 2 or 3. ? Also location matters . I came as SC3 for 150k 2 years ago
If it makes a difference, been close to 2 years at D. Total YOE surrounding consulting is close to 4 years.
