Not in management consulting but doesn’t seem to live up to the hype if 2+ YOE only gets you 115K, barely beating big 4 audit/tax
As an L9, I got $110k my first year in a tier 1 city (2020). I think I was underpaid though because my base jumped 40% when I was promoted from L9 to L7, which I think is an abnormally large increase and indicates I was getting underpaid as L9
I had told the recruiter in initial screening my range was $80-120k. I was super flexible so just said that.
More information is needed on your degree and prior experience to know if this is appropriate or not.
Bachelors and masters in national security (AFS does fed work). Quite a few certifications in one of the technology systems they were asking for in the job description (e.g. Salesforce, SAP, or Pegasystems, etc.). 1 year of prior fed consulting, and 2 ish years of relevant experience total. Close to 3 yoe total combining everything. Like I said, the job description I applied to asked for 2+ yoe so I met the qualifications.
If you’re in AFS that’s pretty decent pay. I was newly promoted L9 and hit 105 a decade ago.
Base on what I read from you and current market id say you’re right in the middle. Not underpaid.
