I’ve got an informal discussion with a partner at a regional big firm set up through a cousin whose company is a client of the firm. Purpose is to ask about culture etc. with the idea that I am applying there for a specific lateral position in my practice area. I do not have top grades but not awful, from a nationally recognized school graduated over 5 years ago.
