Hello guys,

How much % of salary do you save?

While mentioning %, please let us know if you are married/unmarried, pay rent or not.

Just want to know if 70% is enough for a single man who does not pay rent. Or am I saving less money?

That's a great % of income you are saving, you definitely have a good salary package.

I recently got married, paying no rent, saving & investing 40% of my income.
If I pay rent then still I will try to save at least 30%.
But I will not save 70% because I also need money to enjoy outside with family, need fund for trips & travelling, dine-out,shopping etc

like

If you save 70% u will retire for sure in 10years. Because you made your life very simple and the money in your hand is enough for next 50 years.. ha ha

I'm married, paying rent and children are in school. Saving 10% per month

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

Are there any Atlanta natives here who can help us narrow down the city and neighborhoods we could target. Would like to buy a medium sized home < $700k. Thanks

Hello everyone, need a help from you.

Previously my HRA amount was 96000 per annum so I was submitting a rental agreement of full hra without giving pan card details of myself and first party.

Now I have recently joined a new company and here hra is 2.7LPA.

How can I claim the full hra amount? I live in a rented house where agreement is between owner and my dad. Also owner will not accept for a fake agreement too.

Any other alternative do I have to claim HRA? Your inputs are welcome here

I feel like I've been living under a rock for ~5 yrs. I was happy and blowing off money with the thinking that I'll start saving once I start earning more.

Just realised that could've started early. I'm in mid 20s and thinking about investment. Tried watching YouTube videos. But I have pretty basic questions :
1. Where do I even start?
2. What %age of income should I invest?

I hope I'm not late.

I made a mistake starting SIP in a ULIP. Used to invest 7500 per month starting from November 2018. I have discontinued my premium payments since last year. That is when my fund was moved to an interim surrender state and now it earns 4% per annum interest.

After 5 years of lock-in that is November 2023, can i withdraw the entire amount at a time? (Of course after paying surrender charges)

My worry is that if there is a need to claim in future, it can be done all online by my nominee? Is it recommended to take policy online in any platform(like policybazaar)?
Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.
