Started a new job Monday and already thinking of quitting. The role has changed a bit since I signed on, they're expecting me to cover a higher level employee for an unspecified time starting Monday, and no one has even reached out to onboard me or say hi. Thoughts? Am I jumping the gun?

Start applying for a new job asap. Honestly, waiting and trying it out for a couple more weeks isn’t that helpful.

If you feel like that, then you’re probably right. I had the same feeling earlier this year and stayed for almost two months, only to realize I just wasted time. I’m sure you’ll have some new opportunities soon!

Welcome!(?)

Yikes, I'll be sure to avoid then! This is my fourth agency (including my internship) and I've never experienced anything quite like this. Haven't even been included on any internal team meetings or given access to materials. Seems like a bad idea on their part to leave me out of the loop this week if they expect me to be client-facing next week on what is an objectively challenging account

Hey Googlers. Currently going through the interview process and got there via referral. Im just curious how serious the actual referral is taken when considering someone for a job/interview? For example at B4 a referral just gets you a look at HR and the text of the referral and who it’s from doesn’t matter at all, it’s more of a checking a box exercise to get HRs attention. Is it the same at Google or is it more significant?

Working with an (external) headhunter for a role, and just found out they want me to proceed to the second round of interviews. I had told the headhunter after the first round that I was interested in moving forward (although I did express some concerns I had) but after thinking about it, I’ve decided I’m not interested in the role. Does it look bad to go back on my word and drop out of the process now?

Interested to hear any success stories about M&A attorneys at middle market firms (firm is 600+ but is regional and only does middle market transactions) and from an unranked law school finding an M&A in house role. I want to go in house but can’t fathom doing commercial transactions for the rest of my career but M&A in house gigs for obvious reasons tend to be at Fortune 500 companies that almost always require top credentials. Should I give up? Is my resume just going to the shredder?

KPMG or Deloitte? I have Manager offers from both. Former consultant going back after 4 years in industry. Salary is the same, both are Change Management roles (KPMG Transformation Delivery, Deloitte Human Capital). My best friend works at BCG and thinks I should go Deloitte for brand / future opportunities, but I find myself leaning KPMG as I think WLB might be better? Would love insights.
