Depends massively on your personal circumstances.
If you’re a single, young professional, interested in the finance industry and being in the largest, most dynamic hub for it in the world and wanting high intensity career growth in a high energy environment, it’s the right place to go and get the experience. West coast is better for other industries and a different experience.
If you have visa/ability to work in the US, with the current economy and political environment killing most immigration opportunities to the US I think you’d be an idiot to not at least try a few years there.
Move. Doesn't depend on anything. Just move.
I made the move. I’m enjoying it so far.
Work culture and WLB is the same as before. The PTO is the same (our UK PTO is on the lower side ~24 days for the market) but I have more public holidays in the US.
Depends on the package. Pay needs to substantially higher to cope with the CoL in NYC
I made the move internally and get paid ~40% more but due to lower taxes take home ~70% more. Only rent and groceries are more expensive, everything else is cheaper (childcare, transport etc.). You do get better value for money on rent, not so much on groceries though.
Just move
Any thoughts on WLB/PTO?
