The hyper competitive trends will spread to other markets. It’s more a squeeze on pricing than volume which is why firms have typically set comp lower in the UK.
If you’re early in your career, don’t sweat it, there will be plenty of options and chances to relocate. If you do cutting edge work that £1000/day body shops/mid tier firms can’t match, you will do well here. If you’re looking for a well paid life selling big programmes of vanilla work year in, year out, then there are better places.

It comes in peaks and troughs in most markets tbh.
Now is a peak but can’t guarantee the longevity of that.
The last two years was a definite trough
I think you need to think about how fast the pie is shrinking vs growing in the short term. It’s probably also quite heterogenous across sectors. Are you planning to move to the UK and make it to Partner in consulting? Are you specialised in a growing field?
For me I’m not planning to stay in consulting long term so honestly the diminishing pie (which likely will happen over many years) doesn’t really matter that much to me.
Hey thanks, which sector do you think is shrinking vs growing in particular?
