I need some advice. I finished my MBA in May T20 and have had trouble landing a role in consulting. I have 7 YoE in finance and now have the opportunity for a manager role at my current company (Fortune T10 company) I’m nearing 30 and decided to pursue my MBA with the intention of moving into consulting. The compensation would probably be $20-30K lower, but retirement and very liberal vacation make it appealing. I’m trying to weigh my options but would appreciate any advice or stories?

Should I even try to apply for google/facebook roles? After ~100 applications in the past 3 years, Ive got 2 interviews (1 with f and 1 with g) without an offer. I’m a 2nd year manager in tech industry in bay. Got my mba in top 30 school with no pre-tech experience before. I’m at 4 years now in the bay working for all sorts of tech clients including faang. I rarely get any response and never passed 2nd round. Should I give up and just try to find a stepping stone elsewhere?
My wife got a 5% raise (non-promotion) and 20% bonus from her industry job (tech manufacturing). I think “consulting has better annual pay raises” is becoming history.
