If only software was a linear process like this.

We start with a general idea what we want to do but you always learn new things while coding and testing. Requirements also change over time. Coding and testing often evolves in a tight loop with many local iterations until the code is made available to others to test. Once others are involved in the testing, an outer loop is formed to decide what to fix. As systems grow over time they create additional requirements for how to modify the system.

The further out into the future you project the more uncertainty there is. A month or two of activities for a small team can be projected with great effort. Projecting out a few weeks ahead is more practical.

Once you get into a FAANG company, is it better to stay where you are or move around? I’m a dissatisfied with my current job but I have vesting stocks, work 9-5, and people to know and respect me. I am the sole provider for my family and value quality of life and stability. I have some interview requests from other FAANG companies that I know pay more but I worry about starting over.
