I think my company has not so good insurance but that’s just compared to friends I know that work down at the docks/port.

What has helped me is just having an awareness of how to write with clarity. I tend to keep the language simple, but precise, and I say exactly what I need. And it's possible to communicate like that and still maintain a friendly tone. A little Strunk and White goes a long way.
Being equal parts respectful and concise. Be polite, to the point, and give the recipient credit for being able to understand the message without having everything spelled out for them.
I agree with you. Either sending an email or I pick up the phone and call. Sometimes explaining with my voice is better than trying to send it in an email.
That plus follow ups, calendar holds, slack channels for specific things, etc!
