Wake up at 7. Get kids ready with wife/drop them off. Start work at 8.30-9. Work till kids get home at 5. Help with dinner / kids till about 6.30. Get 30 mins of work done. Then bedtime routine till 8-8.30. Get back to work till about midnight. Repeat.
On weekend, in laws come over to take care of kids one day while wife and I work. The other day we hang out with kids.
I hate it.
So why do you do it?

Wake up at 5; work out till 5:45; get to the office and 6:30; work till 6; get home at 6:30. Not amazing but not horrendous by any means.

I hate it in the moment but then I feel less stressed throughout the day. Not to advertise but one of my big law splurges was getting a Peloton and it’s really helped me find the time to work out cause it’s literally: jump out of bed, on the bike, and then get ready for work

I plan to have kids and a career. I will hire a ton of help, and my parents and in laws both plan to be involved. Imo that’s the only way you can do it and stay sane.

Oh yeah, A8, I get that. I love WFH for many reasons but lots of quality time with my husband and our dog has been the biggest perk (not saying that’s comparable to kids, though). Ability to work remotely 50% of the time or more is basically a necessity for me the next time I job search now.

Wake up at 5:30, work out and take shower
Kids up at 7am; make breakfast, read, and take a walk
8:00am nanny begins and I start work
5pm log off and start dinner and hang out with kids
6pm dinner and family time
7pm kids in bed
8pm log back into work
11pm bed
Some days the kids have activities or there are last minutes changes before a closing and I work later.
How different would the above lives be if the billabes were 1900?
That’s only a difference of like 8.4 less hours per month on average. So objectively better, but not a game changer. This is a subjective issue, but IMO get down to 1700 and you are beginning to truly move the needle.
I hired an aupair to deal with mornings. I work out 6-8 am every day, get to the office by 10, leave by 6, home by 7. Dinner and bedtime with kids, work until I’m done. Life during covid has been amazing and i am dreading this shit when i get back.
