The difference between underemployment and overemployment could be determined by age groups. Traditionally, the younger generation (18-25) are attending secondary school, the next generation (26-40) are establishing themself in the workplace, and then the next generation (41-60) are preparing for retirement.

When would be the best age/generation to be overemployed?

Personally I think the best time to be overemployed is in the first generation (18-25) when you have much less familial responsibility. Ideally, you can hustle and save a ton of money during this time, and then be able to live a more balanced life when you have a family. I guess that's how I wish I would have organized my career, given that I didn't start taking my career seriously until I was like 30

I agree with this as well because the other big piece of this is that as you get older you don't have as much energy and stamina. When I was in my early 20's I was not only working two full time jobs but I was also getting a Master's degree. Now that I am in my 30's I know there is absolutely no way that I could do that now.

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.
