I want to start preparing for PE recruiting, how do I start?
1. On prep work: are there any online courses that I should take? What books/guides are good?
2. On head hunters: who are the best headhunters to reach out to? Should I simply cold email or LinkedIn invite them?

Does HR reference check multiple candidates after final interviews or should I expect an offer once my references check out?

Are cover letters important if they don’t ask for one? There are so many job postings and applicants I can’t tell if they would be beneficial to show effort or just a waste of time to write with how little time I assume people are looking at applications with the mass hiring going on. If I should be writing one, any advice how to format?

Are interview case studies difficult? Is it done live or is it take-home? What should I expect in terms of content/questions, duration, difficulty?

For those who have gone through Mck First Round/Final Round - could you talk about how the interview took place? I am a bit worried as it might be hard to connect with the interviewer when the process is not in-person. Did you have a phone call or a Zoom call with video, and did it feel awkward? I have 7 plus experience in c++. I am trying new job within Chennai location but I am getting 1 or 2 interview calls for a month. I know c++ is old language and openings are very less and competitor people also less.
Shall learn new courses like AWS... its totally different from my experience I am not sure it will help to my career.

For the folks who do freelance work, do you do more consulting / advisory (get on the phone and talk) or project work (deliverable based work)? What are your thoughts on a platform that focuses on video-conference based advisory work - and not the bid on project type of work?

I currently work in commercial banking and have been contemplating the switch to private credit / direct lending.
