The other day I was on a client call, editing, and trying not to drop my lunch down me all at once. Media work seems to turn everyone into a multitasking pro (or mess). What’s the strangest combination of tasks you’ve tried to juggle at the same time?

I'm a new mom and I mostly do my work from home, and I feel blessed to be able to have the flexibility to be in the journalism field and balancing an infant. But sometimes I feel like a chicken with my head cut off, running around taking care of everything, attending meetings, chasing down sources, sending out emails, and keeping my baby happy. It's a lot.

Oh wow, honestly I’m always in awe of any parent who is able to juggle everything!

Having to teach a new member of the website building team how to HTML code on Wordpress when I was just the SEO writer. Also making lunch/tea for clients while also trying to explain the tone of the writing for their new website.

Ahh when I first started I was asked to do a lot of things that I definitely wasn’t paid enough to be doing

Hello everyone. I am looking to transition into the medical writing field, but I don’t seem to have the right type of experience. I have technical writing experience, but I don’t have experience with clinical studies or clinical trials. Does anyone have any advice on how I can gain more experience in this field? I am pursuing the AMWA Essential Skills certificate and am working on a master degree, but any other information would be greatly appreciated!

Higher offers at 27-28 with more fixed pay is from contract and hire/fire type companies. Mostly indirect hiring instead of direct employment with the final employer, means higher pay with lower jon security - we get little more pay, companies get the option to let go with ease later!

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?
