The people hired at your agency who previously won Lions, are they generally better creatives?

Some of the best creatives I’ve worked with had no lions and some of the worst creatives I’ve worked with had a ton. Tricky measurement .

The ones who actually came up with the lion-winning idea? Yeah. The ones who just take credit for it? Not so much

likesmarthelpful

Depends what they won for, and what you like. Some of the cause driven work that has won has not done a lot for me, while some harder selling work that’s smart or funny never even gets close to winning .

likeupliftinghelpful

Yeah if they were the driving force behind the work they’re typically great. But there are a TON of creative teams who luckily ended up under a great CD who was gracious enough to include them on the award entry even if their contribution was doing a website layout. Those are the people who are hit and miss. It’s especially common in junior and mid level creatives

Not a great gauge from my experience. I have some friends who have at least a few lions if not many. They’ve come up with amazing ideas but get fired from every job. Agency life is not their bag. Now their former big freelance day rates have/are shrinking steadily. Some tried directing. Some bailed completely. I also have friends who have never won at Cannes but are respected and have carved out great careers for themselves.

Depends what they won on. All the stunty Cannes winners generally can't do normal work as well. The film winners can't usually do stunty stuff as sell. You'll find a lot of creatives have their niche.

Someone who wins lions, is good at winning lions. That’s the only thing a lion proves. It’s a very specific, special skill. Some of those people are also good all around creatives who are great at cracking a boring brief and winning a pitch. But some of those lion winning people are not good at anything else but award speck garbage or unrealistic shit that nobody will ever buy.

@S2 - to your last sentence, is this something higher ups notice? Would love to know how obvious or evident it is as we have one of those at our agency.

I have never submitted an ad to an award show and I was consistently promoted and respected. Believe it or not there are those in the industry that don’t care.

Capgemini has verbally promised me 9 LPA but the offer is yet to be released.
Deloitte India has not yet communicated any offer, neither verbal nor formal.

I am more inclined towards joining Deloitte India as it is a bigger position than Capgemini.
