That's so frustrating, I would lose it if that happened to me. But also, they got rehired by the same company? Is that happening a lot? I don't think I've ever heard of a company rehiring so soon after layoffs.

Oh duhh okay. You threw me off when you said "rehired" lol. That is really annoying though. I would say, unfriend them on LinkedIn so you don't have to see it. Dont let them live "rent free" in your mind as they say
Ugh, do you even want to work for that company anymore? Because I would make them beg me and give me a higher promotion before I would even consider going back to work for them. Find yourself a better job at a place that understands your worth!
OP I know its hard not to play the comparison game but comparison is the thief of joy. You and that other person are not running the same race so it does no good to focus on where they are at. Stay focused on your race and the course ahead.
That has to hurt a lot at the moment. I can’t give any advice that will take the sting out of it. Definitely take time to focus on treating yourself well and kindly until it stings a little less.
