I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

What type of background check do HF/PE/VC forms so these days? Employment, education and felonies are a given (I think) but is fingerprinting and drug testing still in the mix? How about credit score?

Will be in the market for a car in a month or so - narrowed down to Mazda CX 50 Turbo but the BMW X3 is only around $5k more compared to the Mazda Turbo trim I liked. I see this question about how to display side projects often, so putting this out there for anyone who might find it useful:

There’s no such thing as side projects, in my eyes. Every project is an opportunity to display your creativity, and the few you’re most proud of make it to your book. Generally, the consensus these days is that we want our advertising to not look/feel like advertising. So, why should you be concerned to separate what was and wasn’t “advertising?”

As a liberal arts student, I’ve been piecing together how to create a killer portfolio but am at a point where I need some personal feedback. Would anyone be willing to look my portfolio over and provide advice on how to improve it? Thank you!
