It really just depends. But PA promotions are definitely "easier" since you'll probably get them just from sticking around. In industry it is easy for people to get comfortable, so there may not be a business need until someone retires, leaves, or there's an org restructure.
I went B4 > industry FP&A > industry corp finance and I had to be proactive to get my promotions.
most of my friends who left to industry promoted at a similar timeline to me in Public at least through senior Manager. Not sure what it looks like at the Director level.
You have to take your career into your own hands in industry. No automatic “tenure” promotions. It’s easy to get comfortable.
