Ooo nice one
No I think it’s an overrated skill.
I figured it out. i give this to all of the juniors and interns to help them learn the ropes:
1. Pivot from the Weather
Ditch the generic "How's everyone doing?" prompts. Instead, throw out easy, low-stakes questions to get people talking:
The Lunch Check: "What's everyone's go-to, quick fuel-up meal when you're staring down a tight deadline?"
The Weekend Reset: "Did anyone actually manage to unplug this weekend, or did you just stare at your phone thinking about spreadsheets?"
The Travel Ask: (For out-of-town clients) "If I have exactly one meal in your city, what's the absolute mandatory spot?"
2. Match the Energy & "Yes, And"
Read the room: If the client logs on looking exhausted, don't hit them with toxic positivity. Keep it grounded: "Looks like it's been one of those mornings. Let's keep this breezy."
Build on it: If someone mentions a bad cup of coffee, don't just say "Bummer." Say, "Honestly, a bad coffee can derail a whole Tuesday. What went wrong?"
CD1, exactly. It might as well say, “You’re right to call that out. It’s on me.”
This is why I join 2 min late lol
