I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?
I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.
Any Advice?

Pros: you get a bigger house, maybe in a nice neighborhood, better grocery stores, probably better schools if you’re planning on kids
Cons: you have to drive everywhere, younger single people mostly live in the city so dating will be harder if you’re single, worse restaurants near you
Yeah It will be a terrible commute, but need a big place and hopefully a good investment down the road.
The commute is hard if you work long hours. I commuted from nj while living with parents. It’s fine if you work a 9-5; you’d be compensating sleep as an iber and we already compensate sleep living in the city. I moved closer to the office in fact for the sole fact that the commute from other parts of manhattan was just taking too long for me to get to and from work late nights and early mornings. I walk 20 mins to work now or a 5 min cab ride.
That’s awesome. Yeah commute will be a nightmare if I move.
You get fat, more sitting and less sleep riding the proletariat chariot / driving in
You have to figure out how to turn the commute time into productive time. I read, catch up on podcasts, read my personal emails. If I feel like zoning out I do, but in general it’s the only ‘me’ time I get so I savor it. It’s a question of establishing new habits, cuz at first I was miserable. Once I figured out a strategy and got into a rhythm I was much happier.
Yes, that’s what I’ve got, I’m in the office at least 4 days a week. That’s why it was so crucial to make that commute time productive. I’ve got 60 minutes on the train and then 15 in the car to home. It’s my routine now.
