Thinking about moving from the US to Toronto with my partner (I have dual citizenship). Combined income would be about 100k CAD + 60k USD (partner). Curious if that’s enough to live comfortably here and would a 2-bedroom apartment be doable on that budget?

Yes 190k CAD will be fine for two people living in the city

like

Totally doable.

It’ll be tight but that’s a workable budget. If you’re looking to rent, good idea to look into old apartments in good neighborhoods like rosedale or forest hill. They’ll have more space and will be price friendly.

like

That’s 180-190k CAD. Comfortable might be a stretch (depending on how you define it). Assuming 2-BD is 3-3.5k rent per month (40k per year), that’s <30% of your salary which is a good ballpark

like

Yes that’s fine as long as you are not eating out all the time! A fresh take as usually people are going to US for higher pay

More than fine

Hi guys,

I need genuine suggestions. I was holding offer from IBM and Wipro & now have got a good offer from a mid size organization.
I want to negotiate with IBM and Wipro & join any of these two.

Do these companies negotiate? When & how should I start negotiation with them ?

I would like to talk professionally so that they provide me a matching CTC or in case, they can't at least they don't block me for future openings.

Please suggest, if anyone can share their experiences.

Discussion post: I feel almost all consulting firms are the same. Mbb, big 4 etc. if you are paid enough there is probably less wlb. If there is good wlb there is not much money. Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?
