The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

I’ve usually approached it as an inquiry into what I can do to help or take something off their plate… managers love to not have to do anything besides delegate work… doing this gives them an opportunity to delegate…
Here’s what I wouldn’t expect… I wouldn’t expect accelerated pay increases… I wouldn’t expect to be prioritized for promotion…

If I do the work though for lets say 6 months, am I not then entitled to ask for a pay rise? It's the main reason I want to take on more responsibility tbh

Keep the conversation focused on a desire for growth opportunities. It might be helpful if you have an end goal in mind. For example, “I’d like to work toward xxx title”

My issue is I am not sure where I want to end up, I just know that I want to progress
I think this is a great idea. It is normal to feel anxious about it but trust me, we are never really ready but it sounds like it is time. I would just go to your manager and be honest and say you are ready for more responsibility.

Thank you so much. I absolutely will do

I'd phrase it in a way that makes it sound like you're trying to expand your skillset and would like some extra tasks to do so.

Yes absolutely, as that is exactly what I would be doing! How long do I wait then for a pay rise is the next question ahaha :D

I appreciate your post as I've been feeling the same way. Not necessarily stuck but I definitely feel like I can be challenged more. I also just want to grow and I'm not super concerned about titles or whatever right now. Just growth and hopefully a raise to reflect that growth later down the line.
