McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

That's just awful... disrespectful and unprofessional too. The only slightly understandable reason for them to do that is because I know applicants ghosting became a big trend 5sh years ago and it may have got to a point where employers are justifying it because it happens to them often... However, YOU did not. As a qualified applicant, surely respectful and professional with them, at very least, applicants like yourself deserve respect, dignity, not to have time wasted and of course, PROFESSIONALISM. I understand how you feel. I had gone through several interviews 5-6 years ago, set up through a temp agency for jobs I was well qualified for, have a great resume and did well at my interviews. These jobs, might I add, were paying significantly less than I was making where I worked prior for 13 years (they didn't know I made so much more, btw) and I'd hear back from the agency who said I got great feedback regarding my interview...but I didn't get hired. This happened 4 or 5 times and other interviews I went to were just bad for their own reasons. Anyway, I was really close to not being able to pay my rent. I was desperate and it got very scary. I found out that I was being used by these companies who were required, by law, to interview 10 people from outside the company but knew the whole time, they were hiring certain people from within and I my rejections were inevitable no matter how well I measured up against competing applicants. So they pay the staffing agency to get them those interviews. I didn't know this yet and I was so confused, wondering what the heck was going on...what was it getting me rejected like this when I've always done so well at interviews, got compliments on my resume, had great experience, accolades, skill set etc...I couldn't believe this was happening and It was a total nightmare. Eventually I found something and while it wasn't great for the long term, I got good experience, looks good on my resume and helped me get even better. Sorry for the long worded reply, but I wanted to say, just keep grinding. Keep having discussions. Consider trying something different, like other fields where your skills and experience are transferable (not implying you are doing anything wrong) because maybe the change up might bring you random good luck. If not on LinkedIn, set it up and post this there. You might find an employer who replies with insight on the matter and wants to talk/interview. I wish you luck!
I agree with you. It seems to have become the norm to have someone go through multiple rounds of interviews only to never hear back from them. I don't know why they can't take a few minutes to call and let you know you didn't get the role if that is the case. Its better than hearing nothing at all.
I know exactly how you feel bro been looking for 9 months I got ghosted by a really large company after the 5th final round and I had a referral too. I waited for a month thinking I would be getting an offer
Wow, I really don't have that kind if stamina. If it's not a hot chick (emploer) it's hard to keep interest
Oh my gosh, that's awful! I'm really sorry. It is super demotivating and it makes the entire job hunting process feel really insecure and unstable. Like, at what point are they just going to disappear? I felt that way through the last three rounds of interviews I had with the current company I'm anticipating an offer from. At each stage, I wondered how many weeks or months it would take for them to get back to me, if ever. Thankfully this company has been a little bit more responsive than most, but it's incredible how they just bring you in, give you help, and then play Casper the Friendly Ghost.
If you used a recruiter, can they reach out to them to find out your position in the process?
