Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

It is indeed a mystery. Companies obviously know the value of all of their positions -- from the janitor making $11.25 an hour to the CEO with a 7-figure salary to sit in his office until his daily noon tee time. All companies would save money by having a non-negotiable salary schedule for every position. I know, that sounds a little too egalitarian for the cutthroat capitalist mindset, but it's fair. It might also help stop the constant job-hopping for a pay raise every two years or less. The first rule of negotiation is "Never bid against yourself." Companies bet on a job-seeker's desperation and desire not to price themselves out of contention by asking for too much. However, if you ask for $100,000 and are told, "Sorry, we can only pay $75,000," you look weak if you say $75,000 is fine. If they are forced to say the salary is $75,000, the applicant can say, "I was thinking more like $90,000" and that leaves the opportunity for the company to say, "Let's call it $80K." They want you to low-ball yourself. If you complain later, they say, "We paid you what you asked for." Games should be played after work, not before and during work.
Love this response 😂 good for them. I get that veiling everything is just an effort to avoid paying a cent more than they need to, but it's so frustrating to deal with. I'm sick of the cat and mouse game. Just give me the range.
I wonder if senior executives and HR have to guess at their compensation? I bet not.
Sometimes it’s like pulling teeth to get a basic number. Makes you wonder what else they’re not being upfront about.
