This may sound naive, but do you think you're actually helping to effect real change in your government job? Whether it's at the federal or state level, or working in public office, do you feel like what you do matters? I'm starting to doubt that what I do means anything...in the short term or the long term.

When I was a fed, it really varied from one position to the next. Some were the equivalent of clocking in, moving paper from one side of my desk to the other, and clocking out. Others were much more impactful, to the extent of one *directly* impacting how tens of millions of constituents interacted with the agency.

As a contractor, I've always been one step removed, but the impact has been just as variable.

I worked for the Federal Government for over 10 years as a civilian. My experience was overwhelmingly negative, but out of misplaced sense of duty I kept trying. Don't bother with Fed. Gov. "service" i.e. job, unless you have solid friends on the inside, you worship mediocrity ignorance and perpetual cluster....F. It's just not worth the aggrivation, you will NOT be able to effect change, for though they SAY they want change (mostly to appear fashionable and trendy from a progressive business perspective) the most certainly DO NOT want any form of change. Status quo until the end of the solar system is the NORM with the Fed. Gov.

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

Hi fishes, I need some guidance.

I am currently into the SAP Security domain and I absolutely do not have any interest in it. I am planning to shift to development and have started on some courses on my own.

My question is, is there any future prospects in SAP UI5 and Fiori? Since my background is in SAP, I assume it will make a domain switch easier.

Or should I move into the JS-React path since there seems to be a lot of demand? But my worry is about my lack of actual work experience

Looking for recommendations on financial modeling courses (paid) that I can take for 3 statements/operating model, valuations, M&A, & LBO. Have been getting interviews with banks (3 in 2 months) but I come up short with the modeling experience (and weak on the technicals too). I’m thinking doing a modeling course will help with the no modeling experience + update my technicals? Thanks.

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

For 🐠 with a MBA!! I am currently a FT consultant, and PT MBA student. As I complete my MBA, I am planning on my next career move. I could either stay at my current firm or jump ship.

If you are open to sharing, I would appreciate knowing your salary offered to you and firm name, once you had onboarded to said firm with a MBA.

This might be a long shot but I'm looking for a volunteer who is trying to break into a federal career. Maybe a transitioning veteran, recent grad, or career-changer.

I'm pursuing my master career coaching cert and need to do a recorded 45-minute session. You don't have to be identified if you don't want to.

The single session is all I'm asking but could certainly turn into a longer lasting coaching relationship (at no cost), if you like.
