Everyone is different, I believe OP seems happy where they are at just wants to close the gap, if no help on that front it gives OP the info to make a smart decision in terms of ROI.
SC1 you’re right, apologies unhelpful comments by me - disregard :)
Why wouldn’t you try to leave for something better post mba? Isn’t that the point?
P6. I agree. But that's not how it is. Simple fact having that degree opens doors that I may never even know exist. So let's see how it pans out. Cheers.
You don’t jump to mba track from obtaining mba while at the firm. It’s go to target mba and recruitment via on campus hiring process
I’m so surprised there is a gap...you’d think there wouldn’t be, to encourage retention and maintenance of culture
It’s caused a rift. MBAs get paid about 30% more. It’s a war on talent from an mba recruitment front. They wine and dine high level candidates just like all the other firms
Lets all be honest. MBA is overrated.
MBA is core business fundamentals like accounting, stats, Econ, finance, marketing, etc. enough to get a basic sense of each discipline but definitely not professional level. Honestly you can learn an mba curriculum online 3 biggest takeaways are enhanced network, refined soft skills (teaming, presentations, etc), and recruitment opportunities
Side note, MBA is basically a huge party and you travel a lot. Then it’s the real world...
Tons of bad info here. We literally had this discussion in my CRT session last week. It depends on the practice and GTM team. But typically once people have advanced degrees (like MBA), they are eligible to be moved into the advanced degree salary grid. So let’s say you’re an M2 without an advanced degree and you get an MBA during the performance year. When CRTs come around, your leadership should be having the discussion as part of your file to move you to the M3 cohort (assuming you’re progressing well) and your salary should be based on the MBA salary mapping for an M3
Following
wow how were you able to do despite the hectic proj sched, travels... unless it’s a sh*££¥ mba program
op is happy (maybe) with pwc
That’s not a thing and will never be. Coming in with an MBA vs. non-MBA/“earned MBA while at the firm” gap only closes at Director
Left post mba to IB much happier
At a minimum you can try to negotiate to jump to the MBA cohort if you went to a target school OP. The worst is they say no..
80-20 yes
Can someone explain what do you even learn in MBA? (I know there is no alternate for education, my father was a teacher btw)
I'm in the same boat as OP. M2 going to M3. In the process of starting to apply for next year. I'm looking at it as a way to pivot out of tech consulting altogether. I'm obviously only gonna do it if I can get into a great exec or part time program. I'm sure everyone will have an opinion or three on this but let see where I land.
My two cents... if I was going to stay where I was I wouldn’t do it, for me and some buddies it’s a transition “raft” if you will, to another boat
