Dear legal recruiters who used to work as attorneys: are you glad you made the switch? I think recruiting could be fun but I know how much I ignore recruiter emails daily so it makes me think it’s touch to place people and make a consistent income. Thoughts?

Over the last couple of months I’ve interviewed for a number of jobs and made it to second and third round interviews but never got an offer. My last interview was on Monday and I got feedback that I did not get selected because it did not seem like I was a a team player. Ive got three interviews coming up and l am wondering how I can improve my chances of getting an offer. Any ideas are welcome. I need a new job like yesterday.

I relocated with my family to Ireland recently, one month ago, and while I got a lot of screening calls with recruiters, I did not hear back from any of them after our interview. I am still on the process of getting my work permit and I am very clear about this during the interviews, but I suspect that this is the reason why I am not getting any call back. Any tips on the first screening call with recruiters? Should I touch base with them after our interviews?

Anyone on straterra? Starting week 4 on it and have not noticed much, but I have zero appreciate and have food aversions. Would be interested to know how people deal with this / if it actually helped? I know it takes some time to see the effects,

I’m just beginning the lateral hunt and looking to make the move from boutique to big law. Curious what firms, if any, are still notoriously strict about law schools even for a mid-level position. My work experience is spot on, but I graduated from a regional school in the Midwest (top 10% and law review board). Hoping to not waste my time applying to firms that will auto-ding because my school isn’t blue chip.

Any insight on Brewer (either office, generally curious about the firm). I assume comp after year 1 is discretionary, rather than lock-step, given the size of the firm. If a partner asked you to do non-client related/may help later work, how long is too long to get back to them? Came to big law as a second year from a smaller firm (three years out). First year (who should be a second year) is emailing me trying to figure out where are things with a federal notice summary (I allowed them to help). Can I tell the first year to chill? I feel like if the partner needed it ASAP, they would have said so. I turned in the summary less than 72hrs later. Nbd/big deal?

How do you get good at thinking on your feet? I find I always need time to think and analyse before being able to answer client queries (even those that are considered simple by others). I don't want to rush and get it wrong. I avoid phone calls for this reason which isn't great when you're in the service industry so it's starting to impact my career.

Can you name a firm (preferably NY office) that lets its associates work from a different country with no issues? The mid-size firm I’m currently at has been very flexible during covid but I’m looking to change firm (biglaw). Since my family is abroad I find it extremely valuable to be able to do this (I did this even before covid for a couple of weeks, twice a year). I’ve heard firms like Latham and Paul Weiss don’t allow it for tax reasons.

How long did your longest matter last? I imagine litigators take the cake here but curious about deals as well.
